Estonian company to install a public transport ticketing system in Lithuania

An Estonian company, Ridango, is going to have its technology installed on public transport vehicles in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

Ridango won a public procurement in Klaipeda and will install over 400 validators in 231 public transport vehicles in Lithuania’s third largest city. The new ticketing system is similar to the ones used in the Estonian towns of Tallinn and Tartu.

In addition to the equipment, the company will supply the Lithuanians with the central system and operation services. “Getting a deal in Lithuania is an important step for us on our way to becoming the largest player in this area in the Nordic countries and the Baltics,” Erki Lipre, the CEO of Ridango, said in a statement. Previously, the company has been supplying technology and software to Estonia, Sweden and Greenland.

“Public transport development is a priority in all major cities. Our technology makes it easier for people to enjoy their journeys, and provides public transport companies with valuable information, on the basis of which routes and departures can be organised,” Argo Verk, the sales director at the company, added.

Ridango was established in 2009 and is engaged in the development of public transport ticketing and real-time systems. The company offers turnkey solutions to municipalities and companies, acting as a complex service provider.
