# British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay becomes a fan of Estonian-made igloo-style huts

### Gordon Ramsay, one of the best-known and most influential British chefs, has followed fellow Brits, footballer David Beckham and film director Guy Ritchie, by becoming a fan of igloo-style pods, made by Estonian company Iglucraft.

According to the Daily Mail, Ramsay has filed a planning application with his local council in London to install two Estonian-made huts in his garden. The newspaper said the celebrity chef is spending £80,000 on two “igloos” at his £7 million London mansion. “The foul-mouthed chef wants to install the log cabins in his back garden to create more living space for friends and family to stay,” the paper added.

While David Beckham and Guy Ritchie have the saunas with the changing room, Ramsay has the cabin version. “Built in Estonia and shipped to the UK, the luxury pods each have one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. The chic cabins, costing £40,000 each, have three outside windows, a small door and are clad in spruce shingles and plywood battens,” the Mail reported.

### Inspired by Beckham

The paper said Ramsay was inspired to buy the pods after the high-profile former English professional footballer, David Beckham. The former soccer star [bought the Estonian-made sauna](https://estonianworld.com/business/david-beckham-buys-an-estonian-made-sauna-to-keep-warm/)
 for his mansion in the Cotswolds area of Oxfordshire, England, in December last year – and instantly made the huts well-known by sharing the news in the social media. “Thank you to @iglucraft. I’m loving it with this cold weather right now,” Beckham said to his over 52 million followers in an Instagram post that showed him resting on a bench outside of the sauna.

The Daily Mail said Beckham, in turn, got to know the Estonian-made huts while attending film director Guy Ritchie’s 50th birthday splash. Madonna’s former husband had installed Iglucraft’s sauna at his country estate in Wiltshire.

“The Estonians are ecstatic that their love of a good sauna – which is much drier than a more humid Russian sauna or steamy Turkish experience – is now shared by British celebrities, with stories appearing in the country’s media about the increasing devotion to their national pastime and Iglucraft,” the tabloid, the United Kingdom’s second-biggest-selling daily, added.

### Good business

Ramsay bought two “Cabin model 4” pods from the Estonian company. The huts have electricity, hot and cold running water, a fully functional kitchen, a double bed, electric heating, a shower and a toilet, and a storage room. Last but not least, the Viljandi County-based company says its pods are “insulated and tested in Nordic climate”.

Born in Scotland and raised in England, Ramsay’s restaurants have been awarded 16 Michelin stars in total and currently hold a total of seven. His signature restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London, has held three Michelin stars since 2001. As a reality television personality, Ramsay is known for his fiery temper, strict demeanour and frequent use of expletives.
