An Estonian animation studio is holding workshops in the United States for Estonian-American children who want to learn about creating animations.
The project is a brainchild of the Estonian animator, Kreeta Käeri, who has been building puppets and doing stop-motion animation since 2006.
“Animation speaks to everyone in a way that’s very accessible. Even the smallest child, who might not appreciate Estonian poetry or more traditional art, gets a special feeling watching animation,” she said in a statement.
The hands-on workshop takes place in Lakewood, NJ; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA. The tour officially ends on 4 June 2016.
Stop-motion animation involves moving an object a little at a time and photographing it repeatedly. When the images are merged, the objects seem to “come to life” and move of their own accord, the organisers said in a statement.
