Jón Baldvin Hannibalsson is the former head of Iceland’s Social Democratic Party (1984–1995) and the minister of finance, foreign affairs and external trade (1988–1995). Hannibalsson actively supported the restoration of independence of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
