“Could have been an email” comedy show

Ratas & Kohv Hipodroomi, Tallinn

Tuesday, 8 September, from 7pm

This improvised comedy show dives headfirst into the glorious, soul-crushing absurdity of corporate life: onboarding sessions, culture decks, vision statements, the “one big family” that definitely isn’t a family and the promised pizza that never arrives. If you’ve ever sat through a company away day wondering whether everyone else was also screaming internally, this show is for you. Come for the mission. Stay for the complimentary water.

Ivo Pogorelich piano concert

Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn

Tuesday, 8 September, from 7pm

Ivo Pogorelich comes to Estonia for a solo recital – and expectations are understandably high. Over four decades, he has built a reputation for playing nothing safe, predictable or quite like anyone else.

The programme brings together the three great Bs: Bach’s English Suites, Brahms’s deeply personal intermezzi and Beethoven’s final piano sonata, a work that ventures to the outer limits of what the instrument can express. Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales adds eight waltzes whose deceptively light surfaces conceal formidable complexity. Pogorelich’s performances rarely leave audiences or critics indifferent. Expect plenty to discuss on the way home.

The Grit Conference

T1 Venue, Peterburi tee 2, Tallinn

Thursday 10 September, from 10am

The grit Conference tackles a question familiar to every startup founder and marketing team without a bottomless budget: how do you grow when you can’t simply throw money at the problem? Rooted in the startup and technology world, it focuses on strategic, analytical and cost-efficient marketing that delivers real business results – not merely another flattering spike in visibility.

On the bill, Marc Hoes, director of growth at Applixure, explains why trying to do everything at once destroys strategic focus and how to get it back; Lightyear’s head of growth, Alvaro Quesada Vargas, reveals the strategy behind scaling; OKRs Tool founder Steven MacDonald shows how to take a website from zero to number one in search results in nine months; and Kelley Frank, vice-president of Capital Department, tackles the thorny question of how much you should actually invest in social media. These are talks designed to change what you do on Monday morning, not merely give you something clever to say during the coffee break.

Under the New Moon concert

Rock Club Tapper, Tallinn

Saturday, 12 September, from 7pm

Four distinct shades of darkness share the stage. Finland’s Vermilia weaves melancholic vocal harmonies through melodic and black metal, drawing on mythology, nature and a past that refuses to stay quiet. Entirely self-produced, her live performances are every bit as atmospheric as her recordings.

Poland’s Aether make their Estonian debut with a blast of epic melodic death metal. Their debut album, In Embers, was recorded with members of Stratovarius, Wintersun and Arion, while tours and festival appearances have earned them a formidable European live reputation since 2015.

Pagansarv channel southern Estonia’s pagan black metal tradition, combining cold Nordic soundscapes with philosophical vocals that, in their own words, rise from deep within the Estonian soil. Completing the line-up are Bestia, Tallinn’s own pagan black metal horde. Active since 2000, they remain firmly rooted in Estonian mythology, rune magic and the untamed wilderness of an age their music refuses to let be forgotten.

From Friday, 11 September, to Sunday, 13 September

Swedbank Tallinn Marathon 2026 takes over the capital for Estonia’s biggest running celebration – and the route alone is worth lacing up for. Expect medieval Old Town streets, lively neighbourhoods and sweeping seaside views that make every kilometre feel designed for running rather than merely passing through.

The weekend gets under way on Friday 11 September with the Welcome Run. Saturday brings the half marathon, 10K race, Nike Youth Run 5K and Limpa Kids’ Races, before the full marathon and marathon relay take centre stage on Sunday 13 September. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply fancy something grander than your usual Sunday-morning circuit, Tallinn will give you plenty to run for.
