Gallery: The people of the Estonian Song Celebration

While most of the attention at the Estonian Song Celebration 2019 was naturally drawn to the performers, Estonian World walked among the 100,000-strong audience at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds and took snapshots of the diverse public at the joyful event.

Estonia’s cherished Song Celebration that, in 2019, celebrated its 150th anniversary, took place from 6-7 July in the country’s capital, Tallinn. It’s a unique event that in every five years brings together a huge choir of up to 30,000 people. Approximately 100,000 spectators enjoy the concerts and sing along to the most popular songs.

On 7 July, Estonian World took snapshots of some of the people gathered at the marvellous event. Some are famous, some are not; most are from Estonia, but increasingly, people from other countries are attracted to this traditional celebration.
