Pianist Kristjan Randalu and the Absolute Ensemble, led by conductor Kristjan Järvi, are currently on a tour in South Korea on what is among the first tours in Korea from any Estonian artist.
On the tour called “Absolute Korea”, Randalu and the ensemble are scheduled to perform five concerts through 26 October. The world-renowned violinist, Sarah Chang, is also taking part.
The musicians will perform in Seoul and Busan.
The Absolute Ensemble is a multi-disciplinary electro-acoustic chamber band, based in New York City. Created in 1993 by Järvi (then a piano major at the Manhattan School of Music), the ensemble has 18 key players hailing from across the globe: Japan, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Holland, Bulgaria, Canada and the US.
Järvi’s prescience for the future of classical music led him to create the band the American Record Guide claims “may well be the most alluring and virtuosic of today’s new music groups”. A mix of jazz, classical and world music played with virtuosic flair, each project is created by the group from start to finish, drawing from their portfolios as composers, performers and improvisers.
The Absolute Ensemble has toured extensively before, having performed at many concert halls and festivals in Europe. The Ensemble maintains close ties with New York City and continues to perform locally and record at Absolute Studios in Brooklyn.

23 and 24 October – the Sejong Center, Seoul
25 October – the Dongdaemun Design Center, Seoul
26 October – Biff Theatre, Cinema Center, Busan
