From 30 September, students from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Chile will be able to apply for long-stay study visas to Estonia directly from their home countries, making the process significantly easier.
The Estonian foreign ministry has signed a cooperation agreement with the external service provider VF Worldwide Holdings for the reception of visa applications through VFS Global centres.
Since 30 September, students from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Chile have been able to apply for long-stay study visas to Estonia directly at VFS Global centres in Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Mexico City, Santiago and São Paulo. From 6 October, applications have also been accepted in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.
“Making it easier to apply for a visa is an important step in strengthening educational ties between Estonia and Latin America, allowing more students to study at our universities,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

In the 2024/2025 academic year, 159 students from Latin America are studying in Estonia, with their induction coordinated by Study in Estonia.
Those seeking further information on where and how to apply for a visa can contact the Estonian embassy in Washington, DC, which serves as the point of contact for VFS Global centres in the region.
