Ukrainian contemporary photography – final tour

Fotografiska, Telliskivi 60a/8, Tallinn

Tuesday 12 August, from 6pm
This summer, Fotografiska’s ground floor has been home to a striking exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian photography, part of the first UKUfest – a new Tallinn-wide festival uniting galleries and art institutions in support of Ukraine and its culture.
On show are works by artists including Tania Ruda, Taras Bychko and Vera Verseau, each capturing deeply personal responses to the upheavals in their homeland. The exhibition wraps up on 12 August at 6pm with a guided tour by Tallinn-based Ukrainian street photographer Andrii Mur, who will offer a window into Ukraine’s vibrant contemporary art scene.
Entry is free (registration recommended). The exhibition runs until 13 August, with all works available to buy on-site and online.

Climbers’ Hangout: grill, chill, climb and sauna

Hipodroomi 13, Tallinn

Wednesday 13 August, from 6pm
Grill, game, climb, repeat. Hipodroom’s Climbers’ Hangout is your chance to swap beta, make friends and indulge in a little climbing banter (OK, a lot). The grillmeister supplies the grill, seats, tableware and icebreaker games; you bring your own food, drinks and good vibes. Mild alcoholic beverages are welcome – just save the “liquid courage” for after the wall, unless your only ascent is up the social ladder.
The hangout’s free, but you’ll need a gym ticket if you plan to boulder or hit the sauna. The event is part of the Baltic Bouldering Championship satellite series by the Estonian Climbing Association. Warning: climbing chat will be relentless.
